The Delicious Trail Dolomiti is a trail race that is due to take place in one of Cortina d’Ampezzo's most beautiful and historically significant nature spots.
The roughly 43 km trail winds from Pocol, Croda Da Lago, 5 Torri, Nuvolau, Lagazuoi and the Falzarego Pass, passing through the open air museums of the largest Great War Museum testifying to the combat seen high up in the Dolomites: the 5 Torri and Lagazuoi open-air museums and the Lagazuoi mine tunnel. The war fought in these mountains between the Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies was indeed an incredible event.
With a length of 23 km and an elevation gain of 1,300 m, the Short Delicious Trail Dolomiti is particularly suitable for Trail neophytes and not very well-trained mountain runners. Furthermore, there is the Medium Delicious Trail Dolomiti with a lenghth of around 35 km and 1.900 metres of elevation gain, starting from La Villa in Alta Badia.
The trail boasts two exceptional peaks, the Lagazuoi (2,778 m) and the Nuvolau (2,647 m), and two high-altitude lakes, Federa and Lìmedes, set in splendid scenery in the heart of the UNESCO Dolomites.
What makes the Delicious Trail unique, however, is its emphasis on the eno-gastronomic aspect.
The high quality of the cuisine and the attention to service on the part of the organizers of the race ensure pride of place to the event in the area's tourist programme, with emphasis on the continual drive to improve structures, gastronomy and the safeguarding of the environment.
